AYP Ambassador Program

“Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice…Do more than dream: work.”  William Arthur Ward, Author

Vision: My vision for our AYP community that we are an international community, connected with each other with the common purpose of being creative and advancing our photography to the next level.

Photography is a powerful means of communicating to others past and through all barriers of language, customs, gender, race, etc.  With this powerful communication vehicle we can change the world one image at a time.

I’m thrilled to have you on our team as an AYP Ambassador to help us share AYP more broadly. Your actions can make a huge difference in creating a grassroots movement  for advancing photography and creativity to the next level.

As an AYP Ambassador, you’re connecting with a growing international community of photographers, sharing in the pride of being a part of the AYP team.

Staying Connected:

It’s important to stay connected and get guidance as needed, and we’ve created easy ways to do that:

Be part of the AYPClub where to can stay connected and share with others what you’re working on and your successful actions. For example, if you’ve found a great way to introduce AYP videos to a local camera club or a blog, let others know how you did it so they can do the same.

Be a part of our live broadcasts, it’s always great to hear from you there.

You can always email us here if you need any help or guidance.  We really want to hear from you so don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll add to this page any new discoveries you’ve made and also how we’ve debugged any problems.

Outline of how to participate.

Scroll down to find the key area you’d like to participate in.  While you may be interested in more than one, I suggest you concentrate on the one you’re most interested in and master it before moving on to another (my same advice for genres of photography—focus on the one that interests you the most.) Once you look over what area you’d like to focus on, please email me and let me know.

Spreading the Word About AYP

One of the best ways to do this is to tell your own story: What were you struggling with and how has AYP helped you? People love to hear stories and will identify with you since they have similar struggles.

Some ways to do this:

Share your story on your social media linking to an AYP video that helped you the most.

If you are a member of a photo group, tell them your story. Then very gently (we respect that it’s their group, not ours) ask if they would be interested in seeing one of the AYP videos that helped you the most. If so, share that video with your story.

If you have been a guest blogger or want to be one (many blogs welcome guest posts) you can write a post about your story and what you’ve learned.  You can show some examples before and after learning from AYP. With both of these, it’s important to stay with your story and not push too hard with AYP. It’s about you and progress that matters.

If you know remarkable and influential photographers in your country or community, please let us know so we can get in touch with them.

Let’s find other effective ways to grow AYP together and share them here.

Write Blog Posts:

We’d love to have your submissions as a guest blogger.  Send us an  email and we’ll get you set up.

Some subjects to blog about are AYP videos you’d like to write about.  We’ll link to the video itself and add screen shots from the video.  Other things you can cover are photographers that are mentioned in the videos as Bob and Dan often do.

Setting Up Podcast Interviews:

I’ve done dozens and  dozens of podcasts over the years and love to do them. If you know of podcasts that it would be good for me to be on – to talk about photography in general, composition and creativity you can email them let them know about me or email us your recommendations.

Website Support:

A website is like a garden, it constantly needs watering, nourishment and love.  If you’re familiar with WordPress and want to help with any aspect of support, SEO, design or whatever your area of interest is let us know.

Research:

We always want to add to our content on our blogs, podcast show notes and video descriptions. You can do research after a show and add notes and links to photographers who were mentioned for example.

Also, we plan to have regular Photography News show so if you find newsworthy items please send them in to us, This could be news about one of our guests (a new book, award, exhibit, etc.) or news in the industry or about a notable photographer etc. Just email us and put “photography news” in the subject line.

Giving Critiques and Advice:

Do this as a member of the AYP club.  Be sure to read this document how to give critiques.

We’re also planning to add a feature on the AYP website “Ask a Pro” where people can submit  their questions. Even if you don’t know the answer yourself you can do what librarians do and look for a reputable source for the answer and submit it back to publish it along with the question.

Do you have an area of interest that’s not on the list?  Just email us!

Rewards:

To your credit (why we love you!)  you told us that the number one reward you want for your help is the pride of being a part of AYP.  We want to make that pride grow as much as possible and I’m thrilled to have you a part of the team with our common purpose.

We will be adding some other features like hanging out after shows “backstage.”  We’d like to hold “all hands” meetings where we meet on a regular basis to share our successes and get questions answered etc.

We love having your with us and look forward to growing the AYP community together.
